the journey

City of Love unfolds from the creative collaboration of spanish director Eric Boadella and italian photographer Sara Pattarini.

The project found its genesis in Los Angeles, where Sara's acquaintance with her former neighbor, Robert DeCesare, added a unique layer to their creative journey. During shared hikes, Robert, an actor grappling with health issues and financial strain, shared poignant stories from his youth.

This chance encounter became a source of inspiration when Sara and Eric, casually discussing a film concept centered around a troubled rideshare driver, naturally thought of integrating Robert's experiences into the narrative. The character-driven storyline organically emerged from eric and sara’s imagination and the genuine struggles witnessed in Robert's life amid the backdrop of the city's challenges.

“We're not just storytellers; we're social observers. Public health and re-entry programs echo in the background of this thriller, where Spencer, with a burning need to save his city, mirrors the quiet desperation of Travis Bickle cruising NYC's streets. the city's pulse beats in sync with Spencer's pursuit, and the tension mirrors the urban chaos.”

INT. SPENCER’S CAR - MOVING THROUGH THE CARWASH
Muffled rumbling noise of the operating car wash. Molly and Spencer sitting in the front seats, eating from paper plates. The Buffalo chicken between them. In the windshield, a spectacular, colorful mayhem of running brushes and foam.
SPENCER
(talking loud)
Isn’t it the most amazing place in the world? It’s quiet...
all the bad thoughts turn off, the
voices shut up.
Molly closes her eyes and tries to feel that silence.
